The official plan reserved Dubai’s public beaches for families on New Year’s Eve. Dubai Municipality then named four, as reported by Gulf News and Khaleej Times: Jumeirah Beach 2, Jumeirah Beach 3, Umm Suqeim Beach 1 and Umm Suqeim Beach. According to Gulf News the rule ran from 3pm on 31 December 2025 to 6pm on 1 January 2026.
A 2023 Gulf News beach guide says Umm Suqeim 1 Beach is also known as Kite Beach. The reports on the rule itself do not use the names Kite Beach or Sunset Beach. If you are not a family group, do not count on either.
No official plan for 31 December 2026 is out yet: no road closures, metro hours, beach rules or list of fireworks locations. Last season the plan came on 26 December 2025. We update this page the day it is out.
The hotel is closed for restoration. Khaleej Times reported on 14 October 2026, from an interview with Jumeirah’s chief executive, that it remains closed until the third quarter of 2027. Its restaurants and terrace are not an option for 31 December 2026.

Vesna has no fireworks view, and last season the public beaches on this coast were for families only. A late dash from dinner to the sand is not a plan to count on. Decide which one the night is.
Umm Suqeim Park was among the parks kept open for extended hours that night, and Al Safa Park was open from 8am to 1am.
