Staying where you celebrate can reduce travel after midnight. It still needs an arrival plan: hotel access can be affected by the same event restrictions as nearby restaurants.

Room price versus total stay

Confirm the exact stay dates, minimum nights, occupancy and any extra-bed or child charges. Ask whether a gala is optional or compulsory for each guest and whether that charge is already in the total.

Room view versus event view

A room described as skyline-facing may not see the relevant fireworks. Ask for the exact room category and view conditions. Access to a hotel terrace or gala viewing area may require a separate package.

Check-in before the restrictions

Ask the hotel for its arrival route, luggage arrangements and any guest access documents. If you are returning from another event, check re-entry instructions before leaving.

Cancellation and the morning after

Read room and gala cancellation terms separately if they differ. Confirm breakfast, late checkout and any 1 January brunch rather than assuming those are included in the festive stay.
